Every business expects to gain profit but it would be unethical if the owner only focus on the profits. Therefore the owner must encourage employees to implement the business ethics to avoid the wrongdoing things that can happen in the company.


What is work ethic?

The set of principles, beliefs and values that are involved in making decisions that are socially accepted and practiced by people in the organizations. It could have a huge impact on job satisfactions and protect social safety.

The 5 pillars of work ethics

Work ethic is built on five key elements, from integrity to discipline and teamwork. Work ethic sets the way for a proper and successful work environment. Check the list below:

1. Integrity

It’s about being genuine, honest, and transparent or doing the right moral things in all our interactions, decisions, and actions even when no one is watching

2. Responsibility

 Taking ownership of one’s actions and decisions, and fulfilling commitments, it also covers the making of and learning from mistake seeing accountable for the outcomes as personal growth and profession improvement

3. Quality

Conducting quality work requires that you use your highest excellent skills to complete duties with the highest standard to reach client or company expectations.  Example of Quality Work such as meeting all deadline requirements, meeting completion expectations and presenting accurate information

4. Discipline

A set of guidelines and policies that manage employee actions and performance. It encompasses both the expectations and consequences of actions taken within the workplace. This involves showing commitment, perseverance, and self-control in achieving one’s goals.

 5. Teamwork

Several of people who work together toward a common goal. “Each individual has unique gifts, and talents and skills. When we bring them to the table and share them for a common purpose, it can give companies a real competitive advantage.” says John J. Murphy, author of " Pulling together: 10 Rules For High-Performance Teamwork. 

 

Is Being Ethical Good For Profits In The Long Run?

Some businesses see a conflict between ethics and profit, so they may focus more on profit. While an unethical decision can sometimes lead to increased profits, it can also damage the company’s reputation in the long term. If customers view your business as morally wrong, they might become unwilling to patronize you, thus cratering profits in the longer term.



Conclusion 

A strong ethical policy in company can influence of how they do their daily work routines directly. They value their teamwork, policies , work, embrace the daily struggles as an opportunity to improve themselves, and strive for excellence.  A strong ethical professional is  likely to be more successful because they are reliable,  dependable, respectful, and competent. 



My Reflection and Key takeaway :  

In our workforce, we can't deny that we need our co-workers to help us when we cannot figure out the solution. Sometimes we also have to work. During work, disagreement and argument often occur in order to find best solutions for company. These 5 ethicals actions should be applied in every work place. Because they are the foundations qualities that all employees can follow. If we all have these 5 pillars as our core actions, we will benefit the company and will be recognized and awarded by our achievement at work.

    1. Key point is " normalizing applying ethics in daily basis" to build good culture in the company and when the good culture is strong, they will face less problems.

  2. These 5 framework for work ethics should be basic employment eligibility standards. HRM is key to door of the organization, HRM need to keep minimum eligibility employment standards.
